Jorts Are The New Spring Fashion Favorite – Do You Dare to Wear?

Hola Sugarcups,

Blimey, it’s that time of the year when London’s streets are about to get a whole lot cheekier with the latest fashion craze – jorts. That’s right, those denim daisies are blooming all over the pavements, from Shoreditch to Southbank, and it’s not just the pigeons taking notice. In my previous post, I was hesitant to vouch for pedal pushers brought to us by the fame of Kylie Jenner. Jorts are absolutely smashing! It’s all about using what you’ve already got, and let’s face it, we’ve all got a bit too much in our wardrobes.

This year, it’s all about being dressing up and down at the same time, much like the British weather. On one day, we’ve got the thigh-flashing micro shorts that’ll have you feeling like you’re strutting down the runway at Prada or Gucci. And on another day, you see the long and loose jorts dressed up with a t-shirt and a sweatshirt. Jorts are definitely making waves faster than our beloved double-decker on a clear day, well all thanks to the cool cats at Copenhagen Fashion Week 2024.

Do We Have A Celebrity Stamp of Approval on Jorts?

If you’re pondering whether to jump on the jorts bandwagon, just know that you’re in good (and I must say the most influential) company. The likes of Hailey Bieber and the Hadid sisters have been gallivanting around in these dad’s BBQ silhouette aka jorts, giving us all the green light to go full jort.

7 Ways to Slay The Jorts Trend Like A Chic!

  1. Jorts + Oversized tee + Clogs: Perfect for those unpredictable spring days when you might encounter sun, rain, and a stuck in giving directions to a lost tourist within the span of an hour.

2. Jorts + Blazer: An elevated style is pairing your jorts with either an oversized blazer or a well-fitted blazer to accentuate your waist (if that’s what you love about your body). Because sometimes you’ve got to look sharp for a cheeky Nando’s run.

3. Jorts + Crop Top: Sun’s out, guns out – or in this case, knees out. Teaming jorts with a feminine crop top or even a basic baby tee, instantly make the entire look effortless and put together. Just don’t forget the SPF, love.

4. Jorts + Denim Jacket: Double denim, but make it with jorts?! More like double the fun. I get the old-school love of throwing on your denim jacket as soon as London announces Summer. But just don’t go full Canadian tuxedo, alright?

5. Jorts + Sweatshirt: Because let’s face it, it’s still nippy out there, right? Although as much as we love wearing our Spring clothes, London’s flawless weather make it a point that we should either carry a jumper or a brolly, or just layer a cozy Sweatshirt. Plus, you never know when you’ll need to pop into a museum to avoid a rain shower.

Personal Viewpoint: A Mid-Sized Girl’s Take on Jorts

As a mid-sized girl in my early 30s, I must confess that jorts haven’t always been my go-to. However, the oversized, dad-fit, dark blue-washed jorts have caught my eye. Paired with a baby tee and a jumper or a sweatshirt and clogs, they exude a laid-back yet put-together vibe that’s perfect for a casual outing. It’s a look that says, “I’m here to relax and enjoy my day,” and I’m all for it, what do you think?

Are Jorts A Fashion Investment?

One of the best things about jorts is their versatility. With the longer length of these baggy bermudas, you can start off this trend early in the season. Pair them with some trusty transitional boots and a plush colored socks, and you’re set for a stylish spring that will last in early Fall 2024 as well, I bet!

Final Thoughts

Jorts are proving to be more than just a fleeting trend; they’re a statement of comfort, versatility, and effortless style. Whether you’re a long-time fan or a recent convert like me, there’s no denying that jorts have a very special place in the Spring 2024 fashion scene. Whether you’re off to a gig, a picnic in Hyde Park, or just fancy a stroll by the Thames, jorts are your wonderful companion. So hoist up those hems and let those legs see the light of day – it’s jort season, baby!

Until next time,

Love,

Jasmin
