The month is about to end and I just couldn’t get enough of white this summer. And I’m completely obsessed about this season’s girliest trend – RUFFLES. Ruffle dresses are the new-season LBD for sure! I think there is nothing more cooler and chicer way than a figure flattering white ruffle dress to wear this season. Having spend my childhood in all pretty frills and flare, summer and dresses make me feel like a girl-next-door once again. Particularly, a white ruffle dress itself has a very appealing story. In my school days, my mother tailored me the most special white fairy dress which had ruffle layers from my waist line to the knees. I literally wore that dress for years on almost every party or dinner we went for!
While shooting for this post, initially I thought of styling this cute ruffle dress in a more edgy way, but then when I just couldn’t resist the basic charm of white and frills and the memories of donning a white ruffle dress once again was so strong that I slipped in this pretty WRD (White Ruffle Dress). That was it… I mean it drove me from the time now and I was the most happiest kid once again! Decades after, I still cannot resist the strong magnetic field these ruffles hold within them. And isn’t 2017 all about giving in to what you feel, nostalgic and styling our mood? This girly trend got a dramatic high-fashion makeover this year, ruffles are now much more exaggerated and voluminous structure-wise.
I wore this dress with a bold pink lips. I kept hair tied in a half up-knot. Since the temperature was around 38 degrees, I pulled and shrugged this cotton fabric pastel pink colour stole and a pair of white perforated sneakers. Here’s a little guide on how you all can jump in this girly trend without looking like a school teen.
The Fashion Girl’s Guide To Embrace Ruffle Trend:
- Statement it!
Ladies, I swear by this trick; the key to carry the ruffle trend without looking like a 5 year old is: make your ruffle the statment; the first major attraction of your entire outfit.
- Balance it!
Ruffles add volumn to the structure. Make sure you consciously pick the piece that has ruffles on exactly where you want to add some flounce. Say for someone who has heavy arms, a ruffled sleeve dress/top won’t compliment at all!
- Break it!
Of course, ruffles scream ultra feminine style but if you want to play around it, you can always break the fuzzy flouncy feel with some street style denim jacket or layer the ruffles with a more structured outfit like a blazer or an a-line skirt.I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did shooting and editing this.
