Hola Sugarcups!

August marks the start of a festive season in India. Any festivity includes dressing up for the occasion and Raksha Bandhan is certainly one pious celebration of brother and sister’s relationship. The beauty of this festival lies in the way it is observed since years. Here, in this post, I’m trying to accommodate 5 most substantial ethnic outfit ideas as Raksha Bandana dress-up guide. Though, Raksha bandhan is an easy-breezy celebration, but let’s not just go wrong by wearing our festive party outfit.

Most of our fashion inspirations are stirred by Bollywood celebrities and popular fashion shows. And this applies to almost all festivals, Raksha bandhan being just the one amongst. This blog story is about what my Raksha Bandhan outfit looks like and a collaborative take on new festive season dressing. Celebrity festive styles are getting subtler and so, I thought to upgrade our dress-up game.

Picking a right outfit for a particular festival is extremely stressful. Especially, when you are like me; having stored up all your old anarkalis, lehengas, salwar suits, you haven’t worn since a time yet, don’t wish to get rid of. On a positive note, I’ve found an easier way to do the new season festive fashion right, I dig in my wardrobe to create a fresh new look. A look that is ethnic and fashionable at the same time.

My fashion mantra for the Raksha Bandana dressing is soft, easy-going but with a statement-making dupatta. I’m wearing this bright pink lehenga with a green tube top and wrapped this beautiful yellow embellished dupatta. Limiting my accessories to just kundan studded manage tika, I put my hair in a half-up knot. Raksha bandhan is a festive that doesn’t really demands to go loud with make-up so I just used a tinted foundation and bright lipstick shade.

Raksha Bandhan Dress-up Guide 2018

1. Fusion Salwar Suit

Opt for a plain silk blended salwar suit in bright colours like fuchsia, orange or teal green. Just swap that boring chudidar or palazzo with a straight fit pant or jodhpur-style dhoti.

2. Long skirt and blouse

Rakish Bandana is a festival to cheer up and relive the childhood memories. Hence, a flare skirt and the blouse with a beautiful embroidery blouse will look remarkably flattering.

3. Accessories on point

Go for chunky jumkis, long tassels earrings in bright colours, a signature neckpiece in kundan or quirky art will set your Raksha Bandhan to look on the verge.

4. Hair and make-up

Balance your make-up with your outfit’s style; if you are opting for fusion Raksha Bandhan look, go for a basic makeup with BB or CC cream, fill-in your brows and apply a tinted lip colour. For hair, you can keep it open or go for a messy bun.

5. Upgrade your olds

Mix and match your traditional lehenga with something contemporary. A black crop top or a white shirt is with a traditional lehenga will straightaway perk up your look.

A huge lineup of bright and glittering festivities that will last through December, Raksha Bandhan is one of my favourite occasion. I hope this guide will help you knock down the hitch of dressing up this festive season.
